"A Trip to Africa"

The program "A Trip to Africa" is a time to feel the "spirit of Africa" as students of all ages use their imagination to travel with Lillian Carvalho and Julia Rome to Lillian's home village in Uganda.

The students will travel by plane and bus to the village Toro, represented by a beautiful display of huts, plants, and many African items (see picture).  There they will be welcomed by drums, enjoy learning about life in Toro, the importance of virtues such as sharing, and the many uses of the banana plant (you will be amazed!).  We will conclude the program with African dancing, drumming, and (time permitting) an African story or song.

Your students are invited to dress in African garb and bring African instruments, artifacts, and stories to share.

By the end of the program we will feel as though we have all traveled together to Africa, so be ready for an awesome experience!

Students and teachers are welcome to bring a small contribution that will go to a Ugandan orphanage, Toro Child Care Center (www.toroccc.com), where Lillian has worked and will tell us about.
